October 12, 2005 NR010-2005 Sutter Gold quantifies historical gold production from properties
Vancouver B.C., Sutter Gold Mining Inc. (TSX-VX: SGM) reports that a
newly compiled review of documentation of historic gold production from properties
within the Sutter Gold Project has shown that between 1857 and 1951
a total of
2,350,096 ounces of Gold was produced from 10 historic mines within the project
area. The project area contains a 3.2 mile segment of the Mother Lode Belt. This
detailed report was completed by Mark Payne, the consulting geologist to Sutter Gold and
a Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101. Commenting on the historical production,
Sutter Gold CEO Hal Herron stated, We now have a substantive
number which we
think speaks to the potential of our property. The 2.3 million
ounces of gold production came from zones ranging from the surface to
4,500 feet vertical depth. Production was halted in most of the 10 mines
because of the
Second World War; they were not closed because they ran out of ore. What really
excites us is that these very productive mines within our project area chased
veins to 7 times the depth of our present workings. While there can be no guarantee
of economic mineralization within our project, we are very
encouraged by
this data. Mr.
Payne states, The areas of large historic gold production are found at the
north and south ends of the Sutter Gold Project area, bracketing a one-mile
long portion of the Mother Lode Belt with no historic gold production,
and which hosts
our Lincoln and Comet Zones. The Lincoln and Comet Zones were blind
discoveries that did not outcrop at surface, and which represent the first significant
new gold discoveries made along the Mother Lode Belt in the last fifty-years, that are
unrelated to past-producing mines. There is excellent potential for
continued new
discoveries within the area of the Lincoln and Comet Zones, both near the
surface and at depth. The Sutter Gold Project heralds a new
episode in the exploration and gold production of the Mother Lode Belt.
About Sutter Gold Mine The Sutter Gold Project is situated on a
contiguous 535-acre block of mining claims 45 miles east-southeast of
Sacramento,
Calif., in the central part of the 121-mile-long Mother Lode gold belt. The
Sutter Gold project has been the subject of considerable
modern exploration activity, most of it
centering on the Lincoln and Comet
zones, which are
adjacent to each other and together referred to as the Lincoln project. A total
of 85,085 feet of drilling have been accomplished in 190 diamond drill holes, and
modern underground development consists of a 2,850-foot declined ramp with 2,400 feet of
crosscuts plus five raises. For
